After the death of Judas and the Ascension of Jesus the Apostles gathered to chose a twelfth Apostle from among the seventy-two disciples, those who had been with Christ from the beginning of His ministry. By God's will Saint Matthias was chosen, and was present on the holy Day of Pentecost.
