Known as "the Father of the Fathers," Saint Gregory was one of the pillars of early Christian Church, laying the foundations of Christian belief as it has endured for millennia and defining and defending the true beliefs about the nature of Christ, the Blessed Virgin, and the Holy Spirit. Brother of Saint Basil the Great, he endured exile and wandering at the hands of the Emperor and heretical bishops, later to be restored to honor and playing a key role in the greatest early Councils of the Church.
