For centuries Christian pilgrims to the Holy Land have retraced Christ's steps from his encounter with Pontius Pilate to his Crucifixion on Mount Golgotha on the Via Dolorosa, or "Sorrowful Way." And throughout the world Christians take this same journey especially during Lent through the Stations of the Cross, a devotion popularized by Saint Alphonsus Liguori.
In this video we present a simple form of this devotion, combining the traditional iconography of artist Brother Simeon Davis and traditional scriptural readings by the renowned narrator and actor Alexander Scourby. May this humble offering fulfill in you the statement of Saint John of Damascus:
"Through the icons of Christ we contemplate His bodily form, His miracles, and His sufferings, and we are sanctified."
