SOLD Created by the hand of American iconographer Brother Simeon Davis, this original icon of Saint Cecilia exemplifies the radiant colors, fine detail, and fidelity to classical iconography that has made the Monastery Icons collection the most beloved Christian art over the past thirty-three years. This icon is one of a kind and will no longer be available once it is sold.

Brother Simeon's portrait of the holy martyr shows her holding a cross (a symbol of martyrdom in traditional iconography) and raising her other hand in benediction.

This icon is painted on 1/4-inch non-tempered artist's hardboard measuring 26" x 48". The artist used classic egg tempera. The background is hand applied 23 kt gold leaf applied using the varnish gilt method. The icon has a protective artist's grade arcylic varnish. Created in the year 1987, the painting includes the artist's "signature" in tiny letters: "By the hand of Simeon 1987," as is traditional in iconography. It also includes a small scroll with the words "with the prayers of Cecilia Maryam, Joseph Michael, Catherine and George," in honor of the patrons who commissioned the icon.

Rush Shipment: Because of the high and fluctuating charges from UPS and FedEx for expedited shipment, we no longer offer 2nd Day Air or Next Day Air shipping.

Most orders are shipped within 48 hours of our receipt of them and take 5 TO 7 DAYS to arrive. This time can be longer in the holiday season, due to USPS and UPS delays. If you are not entirely satisfied with any item, return it to us within 30 days for an exchange or refund. (Exceptions: Only pre-authorized returns for custom items, including banners, CP and CH size icons, cathedral-size icons, and large or customized orders for other items.)

To ensure proper credit for your account, enclose a copy of the invoice in the box with the returned item, and indicate your reason for the return. All items must be returned in sellable condition.
